In addition, the patient will be examined for cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, macular degeneration, retinal holes and tears, vascular problems, glaucoma, corneal dystrophy, melanomas, as well as many other conditions present in the internal eye.

A thorough history of previous care, present medications in relation to vision, current health problems, patient's complaints and concerns about any present visual problems, and an understanding of their visual needs with regard to overall health, work, and other activities is provided as part of our visual care. We are able to address computer stress syndrome experienced by many patients.

Children should have a complete eye examination before the age of three! Children don't realize they are not seeing well. School screenings are not enough. Their learning, safety, comfort, and long-term vision necessitate a complete eye examination at a very early age. If parents notice an eye drifting, crossing, or turning, the child should be seen immediately at any age.

Contact lens patients are thoroughly examined with and without their contact lenses in their eyes. Special attention is given to the health of the eye as well as the acuity. Contacts will be inspected and recommendations made with regard to their continued use.

Upon completion of the exam, the patient may or may not have a threshold visual field exam performed to evaluate their field of vision. This is an important test for anyone to have, especially those who have glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, headaches, blurred vision, migraine headaches, and other significant symptoms. Patients may choose this added service.

The examination will provide a prescription for glasses and recommendations with regard to vision correction materials, coatings, etc.
