Comprehensive eye exams

Dr. Irons' complete eye health examination includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Glaucoma (measures eye pressure)
  • Blood pressure
  • Color vision testing
  • Direct and indirect (dilated) retinal exam
  • Depth perception
  • Accommodation (ability to focus)
  • Muscle movement/paralysis
  • Aided acuity
  • Unaided acuity
  • Lid and ocular muscles
  • External eye health
  • Review of new patient's previous eye care records and history
  • Pupil reaction
  • Confrontation testing
  • Keratometry (corneal measurements)
  • Neurological ocular evaluation
  • Distance and near refraction for glasses prescription
  • Determination of previous prescription in glasses
  • Biomicroscopy of cornea and anterior eye
  • Patient health history

In addition, Dr. Irons will exam the patient for cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, macular degeneration, retinal holes and tears, vascular problems, glaucoma, corneal dystrophy, melanomas, as well as many other conditions that can be present in the internal eye.
